Founder of ITTL and developer of the Williams Congruence Development System, Dr. Williams brings organizational psychology, consulting psychology, teaching, research, and publication to one central concern: helping people and systems become less enmeshed and more whole.

The Institute for Transformative Thought and Learning, LLC was established in 1990 as a continuation of consulting work that began in 1976. Dr. Lloyd C. Williams founded the firm to address a problem he kept seeing in organizational life: people being asked to serve systems that had stopped seeing them clearly.

His work brings consultation, training, development, research, evaluation, clinical insight, and organizational psychology into conversation. The point is practical and ethical: understand what is really happening before asking people to change.

The Williams Congruence Development System grew out of that work as a way to examine how people, leadership, culture, formal systems, and lived experience interact. It reflects a belief that integrity, truth, inclusion, and the responsibility to do no harm belong inside organizational change.

Background and Philosophy

The person behind the method.

Dr. Williams is the founder of ITTL and developer of the Williams Congruence Development System.

Dr. Williams’s work spans organizational consultation, clinical and organizational consulting, leadership development, research, evaluation, teaching, and publication.

The consistent concern is human and systemic at the same time: people need organizations that do not erase them, and organizations need people who can act with clarity, integrity, responsibility, and trust.

His language of congruence comes from that concern. It is not only a technical model. It is a way of asking whether leadership, culture, structure, values, and lived experience are telling the same truth.
